The US and its ever-increasing debt

The USA’s national debt just hit $40 trillion. But just how big is $40 trillion? Full article.

The U.S. government is now spending roughly $3.8 BILLION PER DAY on interest alone.

By 2028, estimates suggest that could climb toward $5 BILLION A DAY — potentially becoming the largest single category of federal spending.

For perspective:

💸 Interest: $3.8B/day

🏥 Medicare: $3.1B/day

🛡️ Defense: $2.5B/day

When servicing the debt starts competing with or surpassing the biggest government programs, the math gets uncomfortable.

Treasury intervention may buy time. But it doesn't change the underlying equation:

More debt → More interest → More borrowing → More debt.

At some point, something has to break the cycle. Can it be stopped? And who will do it?
